Passed away peacefully at his home in Wilmington, Delaware on Monday, August 29, 2016.

Tom was born in Wilmington on February 15, 1943 to the late Vincent and Marguerite (Azato) Capodanno. He graduated from Wilmington High School in 1961 where he lettered in baseball in his junior and senior years.

He served his country proudly in the U.S. Army, 82nd Airborne Division. After completing his military service he joined Local 626 and later worked as a self-employed tile setter until his retirement.

Tom was a member of St. Anthony of Padua's Holy Name Society and St. Anthony's Catholic Club.

He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Thomas and Angelina of Brooklyn, NY; his daughter and son-in-law, Lisa (Capodanno) and Nick Caputo of Wilmington, DE; and two grandchildren, Julian and Nicoletta Capodanno. Tom is also survived by his two sisters, Johann Capodanno of New Jersey and Pat Kempczynski of New Castle, Delaware.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Anthony of Padua Church on Saturday, September 10 at 11:00 a.m. Visitation will begin at 9:30 a.m. Private burial services will take place at a later date at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Bear, Delaware.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that contributions be made to St. Anthony of Padua Church, 901 N. DuPont Street, Wilmington, DE 19805.
