Joseph is Captain Logan, Soldier of the War of 1812 and fought in the battle of Thames.

Joseph moved to Coles County in 1837. He is considered to be a pioneer settler. He is the son of John Logan, Sr. (1744-1818)and Elizabeth Brierly (1747-1801). Father of Elizabeth (1812-1813), John Morris Logan (1814-1864), Ann T. Logan Chandler (1818-1847),
William T. (1822-1847), Catherine Isabelle Logan Creviston (1922-) & Sarah Logan.

Joseph was born at McKinleys Blockhouse in Mason County Kentucky. It was said he was the first white child born in Mason County Kentucky. (Clift's HISTORY of MASON COUNTY, KY).
