GREENSBORO - Mrs. Betty Jo Haywood, 81, died Friday, December 10, 2010 at Moses H. Cone Hospital.

Mrs. Haywood was born May 20, 1929 in Charlotte, a daughter of Joseph Kinch and Christine "Crissy" Vinesett Biggerstaff.

She attended Mars Hill College and was an active and committed member of the Order of the Eastern Star.

Mrs. Haywood was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Debra Lynn Alley and a grandson, Thomas Andrew Haywood, Sr.

On August 23, 1953 she was married to Reid Haywood, who survives of the home. Surviving in addition to her husband are one daughter, Cindy H. Starr and husband Michael of Stokesdale; two sons, David Reid Haywood and wife Pat of Snow Camp, Joseph Lee Haywood and wife Brenda of Summerfield; one sister, Virginia Gathings of Charlotte; 10 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Monday, December 13, 2010 at 2 p.m. at Hanes-Lineberry Funeral Home Sedgefield Chapel, 6000 High Point Road, Greensboro, conducted by the Reverend Thomas Hussey. Interment will follow in Guilford Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Monday, December 13, 2010 from 1 p.m. until service time, at the funeral home.
