Ethel Ruth Kelley Grant, age 92 of Hampton passed away Sunday, September 4, 2016 at Doctor's Hospice.
Mrs. Grant was born in Hartwell, Georgia October 2, 1923 to James Knox Kelley and Essie Standfield Kelley. She married James Frank Grant the love of her life during World War II in 1943. They were married for 69 years at the time of his death. She was also preceded in death by son, Daniel frank Grant, daughters-in-law, Teresa Grant and Joyce Grant; sisters, Esther Sinclair and Rachel Gregg; mother-in-law, Ella Grant. After World War II Mrs. Grant and her husband settled in Lovejoy, where she enjoyed, gardening, playing the piano, listening to gospel music, painting, sewing and traveling with her husband and family. She graduated from Georgia State with Bachelor's degree in education. She was a loving wife to Jim Grant, caring and loving mother of 7 children; several grandchildren, great grandchildren.
Survivors include her children, David James Grant and his wife Rose, Danna Marie Dix and her husband Ronnie, Donald Kelley Grant and his wife Lelanie, Russell Scott Grant and his wife Vivian, Jonthan Bruce Grant, Jeffrey Lewis Grant and his wife Marilyn, Stephen Dennis Grant; grandchildren Tracy Dondiego and her husband Salvador, Tonya Grant, Leann Harrington, Timmy Andrew Grant, Mark Livingston, Tonya Hutchison, Kati Michelle Grant, Amanda Nicole Cook and her husband Michael, Jennifer Marty and her husband Joseph, Marie Grant, Christina Grant, faith Grant, Daniel Grant, Anna Livery, Stephen Grant and his wife Katie, James Grant, Cristian Grant, Diego Grant, Bryson Grant; great grandchildren, Erica, Jacquelyn, Tayunna, Patrick, Tony, McKenzie, Micah, Crissy, Cayden, Travis, Keagan, Jace, Heather, Dustin, Ethan, Jenna; several nieces and nephews.
Visitation for Ethel Ruth Grant will be on Tuesday, September 6, 2016 from 6:00pm until 8:00pm at Conner-Westbury Funeral Home. A funeral service will be conducted on Wednesday, September 7, 2016 at 11:00 am in the Chapel of Conner-Westbury Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Jonesboro City Cemetery.
