He was born March 21, 1931 in San Angelo and grew up in Winters.
He served in the United States Navy during the Korean War.
He married Margaret Ross on September 11, 1953 in Abilene. They lived in Abilene and Arlington and returned to Winters in 1987.
He was general manager of Underwoods and then managed his own restaurants. He ranched when he returned to Winters.
He is survived by his wife, Margaret Burton of Winters; 3 children, Carolyn Scarborough of Waco, Barbara Tummillo and husband Michael of Stephenville and Kenneth Burton and wife Marguerite of Arlington; 6 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 1:30 PM, Friday April 1, 2016 at the First Baptist Church in Winters.
