NORFOLK
A Hampton man was arrested on charges of murder and use of a firearm after a man was fatally shot Friday in Norfolk, a police spokesman said.
Reginald Sam Beale, 32, of the 800 block of W. 37th St. in Hampton was arrested Friday by Hampton police and is being held in the Norfolk jail, Officer Chris Amos, Norfolk police spokesman, said.
Police were called around 5 p.m. Friday after a black Cadillac Escalade pulled alongside the car of the victim, Darnell T. Clark, in the 1200 block of Tidewater Drive, Amos said. Clark, 31, of the 700 block of B Ave., was shot by someone in the Escalade, Amos said.
Clark then turned onto Goff Street and drove for about two blocks. His car hit a parked vehicle and a bush, then came to a stop, Amos said. He died at the scene, Amos said.
The two men were acquaintances; the motive in the case is under investigation and police do not consider the shooting to be a random act, Amos said.
