CLAYTON, Ill. -- Mrs. Mary Marie Calaway, 83, of the Grandview Manor nursing home at Camp Point, died Monday, December 1, 1969, at 7:05 a. m., in Blessing hospital, in Quincy. She had been a resident of the Home for three years.

Mrs. Calaway was born December 6, 1886, a daughter of Frank and Hilka (Leerhoff) Kaufman. She was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran church, at Clayton. She was married to James Calaway, who preceded her in death.

Surviving are: two daughters, Mrs. Freda Buss of Ferris, and Edith, Mrs. Walter Neastea of Camp Point; a son, Vernon Howk, of Ferris; two sisters: Annie, Mrs. Jacob Totsch, of Bowen; and Mrs. Eva Redenius, of Augusta; a half-brother, Frank Totsch, of Quincy; eleven grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great grandchildren.

Funeral arrangements are being handled by the Hendricks funeral home, at Clayton. Burial will be in the City cemetery in Mt. Sterling.
