Two Weatherford Boys Are Killed In Traffic Mishap
Two Weatherford highschool seniors died Saturday following an automobile accident on U.S. 66, west of El Reno. Cecil Short, 17, died Saturday night and Roland Hamburger, 17, died late Saturday afternoon. Also injured were Roland's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Dan Hamburger, who still are in critical condition in an El Reno hospital.
Services for Cecil Short, son of Mr. and Mrs. Amel Short, were Tuesday in Weatherford First Baptist church. He was a nephew of Bob Wright, Carnegie coach, and a great nephew of Mrs. Cliff Hardy. Mr. and Mrs. Wright and Mrs. Hardy attended services.
Short was a three-sport letterman at Weatherford, and was scheduled to receive an award as outstanding athlete in highschool.
Services for Hamburger were Wednesday afternoon in the Federated church in Weatherford. He was past president of the Weatherford FFA chapter and in 1954 was named Custer county's outstanding FFA boy.
