John P. Alley was the son of Peter H. and Sarah Stanley Alley.

Rev. John P. Alley, 84, member of a prominent pioneer Tug river family and for many years a resident of Williamson, WV, died Thursday night at the home of his brother, L. S. Alley, 2 miles north of Louisa. He had been ill for 6 months. Mr. Alley was born at Borderland, Oct 21, 1885, a son of the late Peter H. and Sarah Stanley Alley, pioneer citizens of that section. He followed his trade of a blacksmith in Williamson for 40 years. After retiring from active work he moved to Kermit where he resided until the death of his wife 11 months ago. Since then he had made his home with relatives here. He was a minister of the Christian Church for 20 years and was universally esteemed and respected. Funeral rites were conducted Sunday morning in the Myrtle Chapel on Five Forks and interment was made in the L. S. Alley family cemetery nearby. Surviving are a sister, Mrs. Sarah Deskins of Borderland, and 4 brothers, L. S. Alley, Louisa, Ben and H. B. Alley both of Borderland and George Alley of Williamson, WV.
