Mr. George is survived and will be dearly missed by his wife of 68 years, Margaret Lankston George and his three daughters Gayle Bertucci (Peter), Mickey Cheralla (Tommy), Patricia George. He is also survived by his five beloved grandchildren Anna Ghelase (Vlad), Lauren Bertucci, Mark Cheralla (Carmen), Nicole Young (Jason), and Ruth Sutton (Jack), and his five great-grandchildren, Zoe, Bradley, Tristan, Luke, and Adeline. He is preceded in death by his parents Warren and Vera George, brother Robert (Mickey) George, and sister Joan (Joani) Ducote.
He was a veteran of WWII, who served in the Pacific with the Naval Amphibious Forces.
Warnie, as he was known to his family and friends, was a plumber by trade. He worked out of the Plumbers' and Steamfitters' Local Union #60 for over 30 years. In his time as a plumber, he worked on many of the largest and most well-known buildings in New Orleans, including One Shell Square, the International Trade Mart and the Superdome.
After retiring from Local #60, he embarked on his second career and first love, restoring and repairing fine furniture and antiques. He was a master woodworker and worked for many antique shops and private individuals throughout the area who will be hard-pressed to replace his quality workmanship and attention to detail. He was also an avid collector of antique clocks, watches, wind-up music boxes and tools. He was a long-time member of the Music Box Society International and was serving on the Board of Directors of the National Association of Watch and Clock Collectors.
