OBITUARY for Annie May Burgess
May 6, 1939 - August 29, 2016
Born May 6, 1939 in West End, NC as one of 6 children to George and Pearl Wilson. Ann grew up and attended school in Ellerbe, NC. After high school, Ann attended Highsmith Memorial Hospital School of Nursing in Fayetteville, NC graduating in 1961. After graduation, Ann joined the Navy Nurses Corp and served 2 years at the Oak Knoll Navy Hospital in Oakland, CA. While in the Navy, Ann met and married James A. Burgess. Jim and Ann were married for 30 years and had 3 children.
Ann worked as a Registered Nurse for over 50 years and only stopped due to illness. After semi-retiring, Ann moved to Kennewick, WA to be near family. Ann loved traveling and was able to visit other countries as a traveling companion to her daughter. Ann also enjoyed cooking for others and reading a good book. Her favorite book was her bible. Her greatest joy remained spending time with her children.
Ann is survived by sister Mary, sister Audrey, sister Janice, daughter Kimra, daughter Kerry, daughter Kristie, grandson Trevor, grandson Colby and granddaughters Josie and Olivia.
Graveside services will be held Saturday, September 10, 2016, at Desert Lawn Memorial Park, 10th and Union Street, Kennewick followed by a memorial service at Grace Baptist Church, also on the corner of 10th and Union Street.
