Son of William A. & Sarah Harvey Williams; Brother of John Daniel 'Jocham', Isaac Thomas, William A "Ephraim", Theophilus S., Thomas Dowdy, Isiah , Mary Williams, Lewellin, & Benjamin.

Born 1831 in Baker County, Ga. , and brought by his parents from Georgia, to Florida - 1833/1835 - The Family first settled in Columbia County, Fla.

He first married Partial Prevatt ; their children are William , Richard, and, Elias Lewellin. The family was living in New River County (Bradford) at the time of the 1860 Federal Census, Aug., 29, 1860.

Several years later - Partial had died (after 1862, and before Jan. 1867)- and these children were in the household with Richard and his second wife - Nancy - on 1870 Census , July 5, 1870, Orange County, Fl..

He married second wife - Nancy Ann Head , Jan. 21, 1867, Manatee County, FL ; their children are D.C. ( David Calvin), S.A. , Lettola (Lettie), Annie V., Virginia N., Ada J., Dillian Sampson, James T., and , Earl .

May 1892 he filed for Civil War Pension, describing himself as an invalid.
1900 Federal Census - at age 69 , He and Nancy were living in Coker, Desoto County, Fl. ; children still in the household were - Lettie, Annie, Virginia, Ada, Sampson, James and Earl. One of his neighbors' was his son Elias, and his family.

Wife , Nancy died in 1903- and is Buried in Gardner Cemetery, Hardee County, Fl.

Her headstone (inscribed- 'Wife Of' - along with a message from her children) leads me to believe that she died before Richard- and, that he is Also buried in the family Cemetery at Gardner FL - next to his Wife. {AND - that even if he died Before her -then, he would have also been buried in Gardner, and Nancy would be beside him}.

Location of grave is unknown; but, most likely he is buried beside his wife Nancy , in Gardner Cemetery, Hardee County, FL. Grave is not marked.
