He served as a pilot in the 8th Air Force Offensive in Europe in WWII where he was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross, four air medals, and Presidential Unit Citation. He was held as a German prisoner of war.
He was survived by his wife, Betty Young of Sterlington; three daughters, Josephine Young of Olympia, WA, Dot Stuart and husband Dave of Sterlington, and Margaret Peacock and husband Gary of Charlotte, NC; 7 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.
