Former Cove Man Dies In Chicago

Relatives in the Cove received the announcement of the death of Jonathan Hoover of Chicago, native of the Cove, which occurred Wednesday evening of this week, Nov. 6, at 6:15 o'clock. Death resulted from a cancer affliction from which he had been suffering for four weeks.

Mr. Hoover was born Dec. 7, 1868, and was well known in the Cove, having grown to young manhood on the farm in Texas Corner now occupied by Howard Beach.

Mr. Hoover, who was a carpenter by trade, was a resident of Chicago for twenty-eight years and prior to that was located in Altoona.

He is survived by his wife, the former Elizabeth Worthing of Hopewell, and the following children: Tom, Emmel, Ronald, Mary, Roberta and Arthur of Chicago, and Paul of New Jersey. Four grandchildren also survive.

There are a number of brothers and sisters as follows: Samuel E. of Salemville, Mary, wife of W. A. Johnson of Defiance, Charlotte, wife of Thomas Fletcher of Texas Corner, Jacob E. of California, Preston E. of Bakers Summit, Susan, wife of David Helsel of Newry, Margaret, wife of David Baker of New Enterprise, C. R. Hoover of Leamersville, Jason E. of Potter Creek and Oscar E. of Claysburg.

A brother and sister, as well as the parents, David and Elizabeth Eberly Hoover, are deceased.

Mr. and Mrs. Samuel E. Hoover, Mr. and Mrs. David Baker and Mr. and Mrs. Jason E. Hoover spent last week in the home of the deceased, returning to the Cove Tuesday of this week. They also visited with Mr. and Mrs. William Steele in Jackson, Mich.

Mrs. David Helsel left Newry Wednesday afternoon of this week, shortly before the announcement of her brother's death reached this section, and will remain in Chicago for the funeral service which will be held in that city Saturday morning at 11:00 o'clock. Interment will be made in Chicago.
