Karen K. Lane, age 75 of Shawano, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 31, 2016 at ThedaCare Medical Center-Appleton.

Karen was born on March 16, 1941, a daughter of the late Gustave and Fern (Koeller) Zimmerman. She was baptized and confirmed at St. James Lutheran Church of Shawano. She attended and graduated from Shawano Senior High in 1959. Following high school she attended the School of Vocational and Adult Education in Appleton.

On December 12, 1964, Karen was united in marriage to Marvin G. Lane at St. James Lutheran Church of Shawano. Following their marriage the couple lived in Manitowoc, Wisconsin. Karen was employed as a secretary at E.C.E. Building Service in Manitowoc for many years. She was very involved in her church in Manitowoc as a Sunday school teacher and financial secretary. Following their retirement, the couple returned to Shawano. They had many good times at their cottage on Shawano Lake.

Karen is a member of St. Jakobi Lutheran Church, Town of Richmond. She enjoyed cooking and crafting and, though she survived polio and breast cancer and lived with MS for part of her life, she never let her disabilities get in her way. Karen traveled extensively to display and sell the many crafts she made. Her faith in the Lord overpowered and she conquered all she set out to do.

Survivors include her loving husband of 51 years, Marvin; her brother, Ronald (Judy) Zimmerman of Wichita, KS; her nieces and nephews, Amy (Gene) Morgan and family, Aaron (Michele) Zimmerman and family, and Adam (Andrea) Zimmerman and family; her cousins; Marvin’s family; and her church family and friends. Karen was preceded in death by her parents; and her grandparents, Frank and Anna Zimmerman, and August and Regina Koeller.

A funeral service for Karen K. Lane will be held on Thursday, September 8, 2016 at 11:00 AM at St. Jakobi Lutheran Church, Town of Richmond. Pastor Travis Kleinschmidt will officiate. Burial will take place in Woodlawn Cemetery. Relatives and friends may call at the church from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM. In lieu of flowers and plants, donations may be made in Karen’s name to St. Jakobi Lutheran Church.
