Gaylen V. Ellis, 81, of Allen, NE passed away at his residence.
An informal gathering for family and friends will be held at 3:00 P.M. on Saturday, September 10, 2016 at the United Methodist Church in Allen, NE. Arrangements are under the direction of Mohr Funeral Home in Ponca, NE.
Gaylen, the youngest of 9 children, was born on a farm in rural Allen, NE on October 28, 1934, to Charles "Bob" and Alma (Schroeder) Ellis. He graduated from Allen High School in 1953. He lived in Valentine, NE and worked as a ranch hand. Gaylen married Yvonne C. Novak in 1958. To this union two sons, Jamie and Terry were born. The couple divorced in 1961 and he lived a single life until his death. Gaylen moved to Lakewood, CA in 1963 and lived there until December, 2014 at which time he moved back to Allen, NE. His work included auto body repair and painting cars.
Gaylen enjoyed cats, gardening, fishing and hunting.
He is survived by his sons, Jamie L. (Sheryl) Swan and their three sons, Jason, Jacob and Jonathan and Terry J. (Barbara) Swan and their three daughters, Kristen, Timaree and Terra.
