Obituary from Williamsport (Pickaway Co., OH) paper: "HENRY W. GEHRETT, son of William and Dorthia Gehrett was born in Clearcreek Tp., Fairfield County, Ohio, November 4, 1842 and departed this life, April 18, 1915, aged 72y 5m 14 d. In the year of our Lord 1862, he was united in marriage to Miss Elzina Fosnaugh. This union God had blessed with seven children, two sons, five daughters, when the providence of God, this faithful wife and mother was called to her reward. Two of these children have preceded him to the Spirit World, leaving one son, Alfred of Portland, Ore., and four daughters, Sarah of Detroit, Mich.; Della of Terre Haute, Ind.; Nettie of Columbus, O.; and Clara of Stoutsville, O.; to morn his loss. In 1876 he was again united in marriage to Miss Catherine Judy, a happy union of mutual love and peace broken only by the hand of God when He sent His death angel to call him home and even then, we trust, only for a time or until their reuniting in the world beyond. In early boyhood he became a member of the Lutheran church through the Holy Rite of confirmation but later removed his membership to the United Brethren church where for more than forty years he remained a devoted, loyal, active member, remaining faithful to his Lord and Master to the end. He has served his State well as an honest upright citizen; his country its commissioner; his church in many official positions of honor and trust, and his Lord, in unwearied faithfulness. Thus the State loses a faithful citizen; the family a loving father and husband, the church a devoted member, and mankind, of whatever color or race, a faithful friend. The last six of his declining years were spent in continual illness of which the last two were spent in his bed. During this time Mr. and Mrs. Gehrett have made their home with their daughter, Mrs. G. P. Huddle. He leaves to mourn his loss a loving wife, three sisters, one son, four daughters, sixteen grandchildren, and a host of relatives and friends."
