Doreen Sharon Anderson , 67, passed away on Tuesday, August 30, 2016 to be with her beloved family. Doreen is from North Port, Fl and formerly from Poughkeepsie, NY. Doreen was born on October 28, 1948 and was the daughter of Marion Seitz Anderson and Alexander LeRoy Anderson who predeceased her. She was also predeceased by her brothers Bruce S. Anderson and Jeffrey S. Anderson, Grandparents Mary and Frederick Seitz, Aunt and Uncle Doris S. and Edgar L. Anderson and Cousin Lawrence F. Anderson.
Doreen is survived by her wife and soul mate of 38 years, Kathryn "Kathy" L. Vooris who were married in Poughkeepsie, NY on August 2, 2011. Also surviving is sister L. Shelly Anderson & Mark Parent, niece Tara Orellana, nephews Steve (Lesley) Walberg, Kyle Anderson, Connor (Alex) Anderson as well as several great nieces, nephews and cousins. In her younger days, Doreen enjoyed playing softball for Lil Darling's Shoppe, bowling and traveling. She graduated from Arlington High School and Dutchess Community College. She worked for Shop Rite Supermarkets for 33 years and Health Quest for 9 years before moving to Florida. Doreen was a member of SunCoast Cathedral MCC in Venice, FL and former member of Poughkeepsie United Methodist Church of Poughkeepsie.
Visitation will take place on Sunday, September 4, 2016 from 12:00pm to 3:00pm at William G. Miller & Son FH, Inc., 371 Hooker Ave., Poughkeepsie, NY 12603. A Memorial Service at the FH will commence at 3:00pm. Interment will follow at LaGrange Rural Cemetery in the family plot. In lieu of flowers, Memorial Donations may be made to the Dutchess County Humane Society (SCPA), 636 Violet Ave, Hyde Park, NY 12538.
