She was the daughter of Allen Baker & Triphena (Mulberry) Wood, and wife of Horace Landon Hutchens (married March 9, 1893). They were the parents of two daughters, Helen T. (Hutchens) Rathgeber, and a daughter who died in infancy.
From her obituary dated Dec. 5, 1918: She died on Thanksgiving day at her home north of Woody, aged 58 years and 14 days. The funeral was conducted at the residence of Dr. W. E. Mundell of Carrollton at 2 p.m. on Sat. She was a member of the Mt. Gilead Baptist Church. She leaves her husband, her daughter, a granddaughter, a sister, Mrs. Judith E. Andrews, and a brother, Geo. T. Wood of Canon City, CO.Mrs. Horace L. Hutchens passed away on Thanksgiving day at her home north of Woody, after a lingering illness of almost three years, aged 58 years and 14 days. The funeral service was conducted at the residence of Dr. W. E. Mundell of Carrollton at 2 o'clock Saturday afternoon and the frail body was laid to rest in Mt. Gilead Cemetery. Mrs. Horace Hutchens, whose maiden name was Sarah Adaline Wood, was born Nov. 13, 1860 at Woody. She was married March 9, 1893, to Horace L. Hutchens, and to them was born two daughters, the only one surviving being Helen, wife of Elden Rathgeber. She leaves also a husband, a grandaughter, a sister, Mrs. Judith E. Andrews, and one brother, Geo. T. Wood of Canon City. Colo. At an early age Mrs. Hutchens united with the Baptist church and until her health failed she was an active worker in church circles. Her membership was at Mt. Gilead.
