Leatha D. Day, 76, of 5540 Beverly Road SW, died at home, Saturday, December 2, 2006, after a short illness. Services: 11 a.m. Friday at St. Mark's Lutheran Church by the Revs. Alfred Kaupins and Perry Fruhling. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. An Eastern Star Service will be held at 6 p.m. Thursday by the Fairest Chapter #382 O.E.S. at Cedar Memorial Westside Chapel (Formerly Turner West) where friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. and after 10 a.m. Friday at the church.
Survivors include her husband, Delmar; two sons, Douglas and David, both of Cedar Rapids; and a daughter, Debra (Brent) Munson of Cedar Rapids; two sisters, Winona Cook of Lake Jackson, TX, and Cloma (Duane) Dodd of Dumas, TX; a brother Eugene (Pat) Edie of Council Bluffs; and four grandchildren, Corey, Kaleena, and Jessibeth Munson, and Jennifer Day.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and a brother, Raymond Edie.
Leatha was born September 26, 1930 in Emerson to Ephraim and Myrtle Edie. She married Delmar Day on November 29, 1949 in Papillion, NB. She and Delmar owned the Day Appraisal Service for 40 years. Leatha was a member at St. Mark's Lutheran Church where she also belonged to the Sarah Circle and was a board member and treasurer of the 50 Plus Group. She also was a member of the Eastern Star and a volunteer for Aid to Women.
