Otis "Bill" Tillotson
(December 31, 1919 - August 31, 2016)

Otis 'Bill' L. Tillotson, 96, a longtime resident of Alamogordo, died Wednesday, August 31, 2016 at Mountain View Hospital, Las Cruces, NM.

Mr. Tillotson was born December 31, 1919 in McLean County, Kentucky.

He proudly served in the US Army during World War II in North Africa and Italy serving in Algeria, French Morocco, Tunisia, Sicily, Rome, Southern France and the Rhineland in the 106th Artillery 33/45 under the overall command of General George Patton. His decorations include Theater Ribbon with seven bronze stars and American Defense Service Medal.

He also worked and retired as a Civil Service employee at Holloman High Speed Test Track from 1958-1979 as a welder.

Mr. Tillotson owned and operated "Tilly's Antiques" from 1980 until 1995. He enjoyed woodworking, antiques, and collectables and often did appraisals for antiques. Mr. Tillotson loved basketball, both local and the Kentucky Wildcats. He served as a deacon at First Baptist Church from the 1970's to 1990's. He was a family-minded husband, father and grandfather.

Mr. Tillotson served God, his family, and his country.

Survivors include his wife of 68 years, Alice Tillotson; two sons, Kirby and his wife Linda of Placitas, NM, and Kim and his wife Amy of Alamogordo; grandchildren, Jacob and Lauren Tillotson of Alamogordo.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Elbridge Tillotson and Rena Mae Tillotson; brothers, Dyer, Jake, Joe and John Tillotson; sisters, Sue Evelyn Tillotson, Mary Francis Tillotson, Margret Girvin, Ann Girvin, Katherine Scheerer.

The funeral service for Otis will be held at 10 am, Tuesday, September 6, 2016 at Bethel Baptist Church with Pastor Scott Wilson officiating.

Should friends desire and in lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Baptist Children's Home of New Mexico, 2200 S. Avenue I, Portales, NM 88130.

Burial will follow at Monte Vista Cemetery.
