He was born August 25, 1931 in Abingdon, Va., a son of the late John D. and Myrtle Wilson McGhee. Leon was a retired farmer and security guard for Westinghouse.
He was a U.S. Army Veteran and served in the Korean War.
Leon was a member of Holston Valley Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Eulajean Price McGhee; three sisters and seven brothers.
He is survived by his children, Jeffrey McGhee, Ginger McGhee and Darrell McGhee; grandchildren, Scott, Samantha and Adam; great grandchildren, Shane and Blake; sister, Sandra Elste; and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be held at 6 p.m. Saturday, September 3, 2016 in the Weaver Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Paul Ketron and Rev. Willie Austin officiating.
The interment will be held 3 p.m. Sunday at Holston Valley Baptist Church Cemetery, 18396 Cleveland Rd, Abingdon, VA 24211. Military honors will be conducted by the Bristol VFW Honor Guard.
