The Critic (Washington, District of Columbia), 28 Nov 1887, Mon, Page 4
Miss Rebecca Carroll, daughter of Daniel Carroll, of Duddington, died yesterday morning at her residence on East Capitol Street. The Carrolls are descended from Charles Carroll, who came to Maryland during the reign of James the Second. His son, Charles settled at Carrollton, and his son, Daniel at Duddington, which was then in Maryland. Miss Carroll, who died yesterday, lived all her life and until within a few years in the handsome old manor house of her ancestors, which stood on the hill fronting reservation No 17. The mansion was very much the style of those at Arlington and Mount Vernon. The funeral will take place from St Peter's Church tomorrow morning.. Rev Father Devine will conduct the services.
