Faibre James A.
d. July 11, 1908
Served in Co. A, Crescent Regiment,
Louisiana InfantryHis original name may have been spelled FAIBVRE. Two of his children changed their name to FABER. (Contributed by: rayray)

Iola (Iolia) Yvonne Faibvre (1883-1963) was born at New Orleans on August 31,
1883. She was the third of at least three children born to James A. Faibvre (1840-1908)
and Melvina J. Saget Faibvre Hager (1858-1923) who were married at New Orleans on
May 13, 1882. Iola Faibvre's siblings were: Edgard Aloysius Faber* (1880-1925) and Grace Evelin Faber* (1881-1962). Melvina S. Faibvre Hager, spouse of Robert Hager, expired at New Orleans in late March 1923. She was an occasional guest of her daughter and had developed a relationship with the Ocean Springs community.(NOLA Marriage Record Index Vol. 9, p. 320 and NOLA Birth Record Index Vol. , p. , Vol. 76, p. 596 and Vol. 81, p. 461, and The Daily Herald, March 27, 1923, p. 2 )

*Probably due to the difficulty of spelling the family name Iola's siblings became FABER.

James A. Faibvre was believed to have been descended from French Royalist who fled France for Louisiana when the reign of King Louis Phillippe [1773-1850] ended in 1848 with his abdication and replacement by Prince Phillipe de Orleans, Comte de Paris [1838-1894].[The History of Jackson County, Mississippi, JXCO Historical Society: 1989, p. 180]

During the War of the Rebellion [1861-1865], James A. Faibvre served with Company A, Crescent Regiment, CSA. His remains were interred at Metairie Cemetery in the Army of Tennessee tomb, crypt 33.[FAG No. 257963017]
