Raymond Rance Jonas was born to Joseph and Mary Jonas on July 14, 1921 at the family homestead north of Terry. He left home at the age of 16 and joined the CCC before entering the military. He joined the army on September 26, 1942 and served in the 897th Field Artillery Battalion. He was stationed in several areas including Normandy landing, Northern Franc, Ardennes, Rhineland and Central Europe. He was honorably discharged on November 30, 1945. Raymond married E. Elaine Huseby in Miles City on September 17, 1952. To this union five children were born. The family ranched and farmed there for nearly 50 years before health reasons forced him to move to town. He was a member of the American Legion and Wesleyan Church.

Raymond enjoyed playing cards, visiting with friends, dancing, playing pool and reading a good book. He always had a kind word and a helping hand for his neighbors and friends. Raymond's motto was "Give someone a hug today and tell them you love the, tomorrow may be too late."

Raymond is survived by his wife, Elaine of Terry, MT, and their children; Rolane (Larry) Christofferson of Terry, MT, Rance (Pam) Jonas of Vernal, UT, Shayne (friend Lynn) of Terry, Yoland (Paul) Ferguson and Duke (Barb) Jonas both of Miles City, 17 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Mamie Macroski, two half brothers; Ed and Louis and a half sister Audrey.
