He was the son of John Jay and Donna May (Smith) Reed. His companion of 30 years, Jackie Eccard, survives in Cloverdale.
Surviving are thirteen children: David Eccard, Van Wert, Terri (Bob Norbeck) Sheeter, Stephanie (Brian) Plaugher and Loni Reed, all Lima, Todd (Dawn) Eccard, Deanna (Jim) Williams and Tami Reed, all Delphos, Cheryl (Hank) Wegesin and Jennifer (Larry) Looser, both Middle Point, Bethany Reed, Evansville, IN, Barbara Reed, Edmonton, KY, Benjamin Reed, Summershade, KY, and Teri Dembinski, TN; a brother, Mark (Cynthia), Warsaw, IN; three sisters: Gayle (Dave) Woodling, Warsaw, IN, Nancy Reed, Ft. Wayne, and Amy (William) Smith, Baytown, TX; and multiple grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Deceased are a sister, Dorothy Jo Reed.
An over the road truck driver, he was a very good mechanic. He was a true jack of all trades. He enjoyed landscaping, especially working in his yard. He was a fanatic about making sure his grass was perfect. He was a Sci-Fi fan; he especially liked Star Trek and Lord of the Rings. He also enjoyed using his computer.
Funeral services will be at Harter and Schier Funeral Home, with Pastor David Howell officiating. Burial will be at a later date in Warsaw, IN.
