Ronnie Fields King was a former resident of Mebane, NC, and Surfside Beach, SC. Ronnie was born December 9, 1943 in Mebane, NC to the late William Lawrence and Jennie May Craddock King.

He was a graduate from Mebane High School and was honored to have served his country in the US Navy from 1962 – 1966. After his service he attended Alamance Community College where he studied HVAC and spent his career working in the field of HVAC in Greensboro, NC and Myrtle Beach, SC. Ronnie was an avid golfer, but he was mostly a devoted Duke Blue Devils fan and loved everything Duke.

Ronnie is survived by his brother, Melvin King (Jan) as well as his niece and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister and brother-in-law, Audrey May King McBane and her husband George.

Ronnie is survived by his two children: William Stephen King (Pam Causey) and Karen Elaine King Jones (Marty). He devoted his life to loving them. They loved and cared for him deeply and they later blessed ‘Papa’ Ronnie with Stephanie Marie King, Hannah Nicole King, McKenzie Causey, and Hope Elaine Jones.

Ronnie was introduced to the love of his life, Connie Steele, by his friend, Jason (Connie’s son). Ronnie and Connie were soon married and in accordance with God’s plan for Ronnie’s life and Ronnie’s unending dreams, he spent his final peaceful days with Connie and his faithful companions, Hunter and Layla, alongside the still waters of Lake Murray. These same waters are where he spent most of his time riding his family on his boat and tubing with his grandchildren. These endless boat rides and memories of Ronnie will live forever in his family’s heart as will the words often spoken by his friends of how happy and fulfilled his life was once Connie “C2” entered his life. These words will comfort her in the days to come.

Services will be Thursday, September 1 at 3 PM at St. Thomas Lutheran Church, 215 St. Thomas Church Road, Chapin, SC. The family will receive guests following the service in the church Fellowship Hall. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the charity of your choice as it was always Ronnie’s desire to help others. Thompson Funeral Home assisted the family.
