George E. Brock, 94, of Richmond, MO died Tuesday, August 30, 2016 at Shirkey Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Richmond. George was born on May 14, 1922 in Norborne, MO to Miley and Ida W. (Buehler) Brock. He married Josephine Massood of Kansas City, MO on August 24, 1947. She preceded him in death on August 4, 2004. Survivors include; two sons and one daughter-in-law, Carl D. and Jan Brock of Garden City, MO and Paul D. Brock of Oak Grove, MO; one brother, Delbert Brock of Pomme de Terre, MO; 4 grandchildren; and 4 great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents and wife, George was preceded in death by one brother, John W. Brock; and one sister, Ida Mae Knutelski. George was a United States Army Veteran of WWII serving his county from 1941 to 1945. He was with the 1st Army 447 Aircraft Battalion. He was a highly decorated veteran. He landed on Omaha Beach on D-Day, was at the Battle of the Bulge, in the Alps Mountains, South France and Belgium. George was 1 of the 13 men out of 140 in his battery who returned home from WWII. He received 5 Bronze Stars and 1 Silver Star. George served under and met Dwight D. Eisenhower. He worked after the war as a Crane Operator for Armco Steel for 33 years, before retiring in 1979. He was a member of the Richmond VFW post #4398. George was a member, and a previous Decon of the Richmond First Baptist Church. He lived in Independence before moving to Richmond in 1975
