Sam G. Cardenas passed away peacefully at his home 11 Aug 2016 at his home surrounded by his family, just 20 days after the passing of his beloved wife, Josephine. They were married for 68 years. He was born 15 Dec 1925 in Fredericksburg, Texas a son and last surviving child of Jose Angel and Antanacia Gonzales Cardenas.

He moved to Utah as a young boy and spent his remaining life in Box Elder County, Utah. He met the love of his life; Josephine Baltazar in grammar school and following his return from WWII they were married on Christmas Day in 1948 at St. Henry's Catholic Church in Brigham City, Utah.

He proudly served his country during WWII. He was stationed in Germany and Japan and received a Purple Heart.

They were very proud of their Catholic Heritage and Sam was instrumental in moving the building what is now St. Henry's Catholic Church on 2nd east in Brigham City from Defense Depot Ogden.

He worked for 39 years and retired from the Defense Depot Ogden. He worked part-time at Safeway in his younger years.

He was a simple man who enjoyed Canadian Whiskey, a cold Bud Light, a juicy steak and playing his guitar. He enjoyed golfing, fishing and hunting with is family and friends. He worked very hard at keeping a well manicured yard, and loved to have his family over for cookouts on the patio.

He was preceded in death by his beloved Josephine, his brothers; Juan, Jake, Ben and John and sister; Patchen Silva and Senorina Garza.

Interment, Corinne Cemetery, Corinne, Utah.
