Shawn M. North, 45, of Waterloo, died at UnityPoint-Allen Hospital on August 30, 2016.

He was born on February 15, 1971 in Waterloo, the son of Ernest James and Merline Marie (Monnahan) North. Shawn graduated from Waterloo West High School in 1991.

He worked for North Side Auto, Palace Clothiers, and later worked as a salesman for C&S and Rydell Chevrolet in Waterloo.

Survivors include: daughter, Brooke Mooney of Holland, IA; girlfriend, Laurie Payton and her children Micah and Taylor of Waterloo; six sisters, Toinya North of Waterloo, Sherry (Pat) Powers of Waterloo, Dayline (Jeff Halverson) North of Waterloo, Laina North of Sacramento, CA, Melissa Tompkins of Lewisville, TX, and Darla (Dave) Stuber of Waterloo; three brothers, Zachary Phennicie of Waterloo, Cody Phennicie of Waterloo, and Kelly Maxwell of Marengo, IA; stepmother, Kathy North of Waterloo; many nieces and nephews and very close friends.

Preceded in death by: his parents; brother, David North; and sister, Luana Wuerz
