A native of Rutherford County, she was the daughter of the late Reverend Fredrick and Mary Caroline Roberson West. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Corbett C.M. "Sam" Nelson, who died in 1948; two sons; John West Nelson, who died in 1967 and Ronald "Ronnie" Alan Nelson, who died in 1997 and three sisters, Bonnie Bailey, Flora Clyde Drake and Mary Lou Lunsford. Annie retired from BASF with 31 years of service. She enjoyed gardening, feeding the birds, spending time with her family and fixing biscuits and gravy. Annie was a member of Church of God of Prophecy.
She is survived by three grandchildren, Keeta Nelson and her friend, Bernard Bryson of Canton, Rhonda Smith and her husband, Randy, of Waynesville and Jon Nelson of Canton; three great-grandchildren, Mitch Nelson and his wife, Lora, Zach Huskey and Ashley Nelson all of Canton; two great-great-grandchildren, Hunter and Blake Nelson of Canton; and a brother, Fredrick "Tam" West of Lincoln Park Michigan.
