Jonathan E. Rogers, 85, of Sebring, passed away at 10:20 p.m. Monday, Nov. 16, 2009, at Riverview Pointe Care Center in Olmsted Falls, Ohio.

Born on March 8, 1924, in Sebring, he was the son of the late Jack and Hannah (Miller) Rogers. Jonathan was a 1942 graduate of Sebring High School and was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. Mr. Rogers was employed at Americana Art Pottery as a quality control person in the packing department. He was a member of Sebring Presbyterian Church and an avid Sebring Trojan and Massillon Tiger sports fan. He loved to golf and always loved to sit down to a good meal. During his time in the Army he had the opportunity to play saxophone with the Glenn Miller Band.

Mr. Rogers is survived by his daughter, Joanna (David) Shippoli of Strongsville, Ohio.

Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy (Lash) Rogers, on Feb. 21, 2005; and a brother, Earl Rogers.

A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 19, 2009, at Gednetz-Ruzek Funeral Home with the Rev. David Parry officiating. Friends may call the hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will take place in Grandview Cemetery.
