Jim L. Young
December 19, 1944 – October 12, 2013
Jim L Young passed away at St. Mary's Hospital on October 12, 2013, after a long illness. Jim was born to Edgar Leverne and Glady (Brown) Young in Galesburg, Illinois December 19, 1944.
Jim is survived by wife, Sharon D. Young, and seven year old son, Ryan A. Young of the family home in Grand Junction, Colorado.
He is also survived by other children from a previous marriage, Troy Young of Peoria, Arizona; Shelia (Young) Delach of Casper, Wyoming, and Stacey (Young) Mittelstadt of Casper, Wyoming, and their spouses; three sisters, Carol (Young) Tider of Galesburg, Illinois; Lee and Sheryl (Young) Busby of Peoria, Illinois, and Philip and Barbara (Young) Leverton of Freeport, Illinois; nine grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
Preceding Jim in death is infant, Rodrick Wayne Young, also from a previous marriage and his parents, Edgar Leverne and Glady Young.
Jim graduated in 1963 from Valley High in Fairview, Illinois and went on to attend a trade school in Chicago, Illinois for electricians. From there his career lead him to working in various coal mines throughout Illinois as an electrician. Jim was pleased to be promoted as a head manager in the electrical department in his early 20’s . As many of the coal mines starting shutting down in Illinois in the 1970's, this lead Jim and his family to move to the state of Wyoming. The shift in the coal mine industry brought Jim to change his career over to working in the oil industry in Wyoming. For the last several years of his life Jim worked for SST Energy Corporation as an electrician traveling throughout the different surrounding states working on drilling rigs. In 2006 with the oil boom shifting to western Colorado Jim and his family moved to one of SST Energy Corporation's new hubs located in Grand Junction, Colorado where he was based until his retirement in 2012.
Cremation has taken place with Jim having been an organ donor.
Services for Jim L. Young will be held Saturday, October 19, 2013, at 11:00 a.m. at Callahan-Edfast, 2515 Patterson Road Grand Junction, Colorado.
Jim will be greatly missed by all his family and friends.
