Phyllis Goodwin, 83, of Amarillo died on Friday, Aug. 26, 2016.

Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Paramount Baptist Church with Victor Miller officiating. Private family burial will be in Llano Cemetery. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd.

Phyllis was born Aug. 26, 1933, in Osage, Okla., to Ruth and Luther Crupper. She grew up in Fritch and attended schools in Phillips, graduating from Phillips High School in 1951. She later attended Frank Phillips College, where she met the love of her life, Joe Goodwin. They were married on July 10, 1953, and were together for 63 years. She earned her bachelor’s degree from West Texas State University. Over the years, she enjoyed golfing, playing bridge, traveling and was an avid reader. Totally devoted to her family, Phyllis loved nothing more than spending time with them, especially on holidays. She was a member of Tascosa Ladies Golf Association and a devout member of Paramount Baptist Church with the Love Sunday school class.

She was preceded in death by her parents and four sisters, Deloris Cox, Willow Dean Smith, Shirley Blackmon and Carlene Wright.

Survivors include her husband, Joe Goodwin; a daughter, Susan Anderson and husband Ed of El Paso; a sister, Olive Cathron of Okmulgee, Okla.; a grandson, Blake Anderson and wife Nicole of El Paso; a granddaughter, Lindsay Anderson of Denver, Colo.; two great-grandchildren, Ava and Claire Anderson; and numerous nieces and nephews — all favorites.

The family suggests memorials be to a charity of choice.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
