Regina M. Thomas Edwards, 82, of Gaston, passed away Wednesday, July 27, 2016 at Westminster Village in Muncie, IN, following an extended illness.

Regina was born March 25, 1934 in Yorktown, IN, to the late Byron and Melita (Clayton) Long. Regina graduated from Harrison Township High School. She was a homemaker while raising her three children. She had also worked for Collin's IGA in Gaston and retired from Muncie Bread. Regina was a longtime member of the Gaston United Methodist Church. She was a member of E.C.I. Emmaus Community Center where she participated in walk #7. She was a 50 year member of the Eastern Star, Upland Chapter 411. She was also a member of the Dunkirk Elks Lodge #1776. Regina was an excellent cook who enjoyed cooking for her family and friends.

Regina is survived by three children, Rex Thomas (wife-Debra), Connie Mauck (husband-Mike), and Ronald Thomas; three step-children, Lisa Garrison (husband-Mike), Tammy Edwards, and Scott Edwards (wife-Tamara); a brother, Carl Long (wife-Doris); step-brother, Charles Kirtley; 14 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Regina was preceded in death by her husband, James L. Thomas; her 2nd husband, Larry J. Edwards; stepmother, Irene Long; a sister, Rosemary Reed; and a daughter-in-law, Kelle Thomas.

The family would like to offer a special thank you to the staff of Devon Lane at Westminster Village for the wonderful care and love they showed to Regina and her family.

A funeral service to celebrate Regina's life will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at Gaston United Methodist Church, 105 N. Main St., Gaston. Pastor Kenneth Taylor will officiate. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory Cemetery. Friends and family may gather to share and remember from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday at the church. Friends may also gather from 9 a.m. until 10 a.m. Monday at the church. Memorial contributions may be given to the Gaston United Methodist Church or a charity of the donor's choice.
