BRADY - Ida "Grace" Matthews, 74, died Monday, Aug. 24, 2009. Visitation is 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 25, at Heritage Funeral Home. Graveside service is at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 26, in Rest Haven Cemetery.
Survivors include daughters Sharon Smith of Ballinger and Jana Matthews of Brady; son Fred Matthews of Brady; and sisters Bonnie Sellers of San Angelo and Vera Smith of Odessa.
Ida (Grace) Matthews passed away Aug. 24, 2009 in Brady at the age of 79. She was born July 7, 1930 to Hustes Andrew and Alpha Ann Omega (Hawkins) Leigh in Borger. Grace liked to dance, work in the garden, cook, play with her little dog and special friend Honey and spend time with her children and family. She is survived by two daughters; Sharon Smith and husband, Larry, of Ballinger, and Jana Matthews of Brady; a son, Fred Matthews and wife, Viveca, of Brady; special friend and little dog Honey; grandchildren, Jennifer Matthews of Brady, Rusty Marion of Splendora, Jeff Ward and wife, Carla, of Floral, Ark., Raymond Ward of Ballinger, and Becky Haff of Waco; numerous great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren; two sisters, Bonnie Sellers of San Angelo and Vera Smith of Odessa and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents; three sisters; Edith Boatwright, Opal Sears and Ruby Leigh and two brothers, Rex Leigh and John Leigh.
