Alfred Munson

Patriarch of a prominent Utica family that donated money for beneficent causes, including the Utica Orphan's Asylum and the Richard Upjohn designed Grace Church. Orginally a millstone manaufacturer, Munson became director of the Utica and Schenectady Railroad and president of Oneida Bank. Today, the famed Utica museum the Munson-Williams-Proctor Institute bears his name.
