Bud moved to Texas as an infant. He grew up in Grand Prairie, Texas and graduated from Grand Prairie High School. After graduation he attended college at DCCC and Trinity University but took a break to join the US Army where he served in Vietnam. When he was honorably discharged he returned to school, receiving his Bachelor's Degree in Finance from The University of Texas in Arlington.
Bud spent time working at a mortgage company for his father and was married in 1982. His son was born in 1983 during which he owned a wrecker company in Grand Prairie. Bud enjoyed picking up his son from school in the large tow truck. He was also a home builder for a brief time and managed several restaurants in Grand Prairie before going to work for the Post Office in 1992.
Bud enjoyed reading Charles Grisham novels, watching old movies and politics. As a child he was raised in the Episcopalian Church where he served as an acolyte. He loved to tell jokes and eat. He didn't mind what kind of food as long as it was good but especially mexican food. Bud was a loving family man who was friendly and nice all the way around.
Bud is preceded in death by his mother Virginia E Madden Cober and father Walter Alvin Cober Sr.
He is survived by his longtime companion Mary Alvarado; son Timothy Cober and his wife, Stacy; grandson Liam Cober; siblings: Charles Jay Cober, Mary Ann Owens and her husband, Jimmie, Peter Cober and his wife Velvet; step-mother Wanda Cober; best friend Richard Mitchell and Mary Alvarado's children: Felix Segura, John Benton, Jose Perez, Keith Benton and Liz Marquez along with numerous nieces and nephews.
