Johnny Jewel Sharp, 91, of Jonesboro, formerly of Ravenden, passed away Friday, August 26, 2016 in Jonesboro. He was born on August 11, 1925 in Ravenden, Arkansas to Moses and Edna Overstreet Sharp. He was a member of New Hope Baptist Church in Jonesboro, and was retired from Arkansas State University. He served in the United States Army during WWII.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Joyce Taylor Sharp; brothers, Eugene, W.T., and Leo; sisters, Pauline, Lorene, and Maxine.

Survivors include sons, Randel Sharp of Jonesboro, David Sharp of Bartlett, Tennessee; daughters, Brenda LaCroix of Sisseton, South Dakota, Norma Li and Lora Baugh, both of Jonesboro; grandchildren, Kelcie, Ashley, Kylie, Alex, Evan, and Allison; and three great grandchildren.

Visitation will be Wednesday, August 31, 2016 from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Cox Funeral Home Chapel in Walnut Ridge. Funeral will follow at 12:00 p.m. in Cox Funeral Home Chapel with Brother John Thomas Stoll officiating. Burial will be at Friendship Cemetery at Imboden under the direction of Cox Funeral Home.
