Courtney Mae Little Nest, 12, of Hardin, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, Aug. 27, 2016.

Akbaatatdia Alaasaashiia Iixuash, “Covered by God’s Light” – the name given to her by Jean Bear Crane – was born Oct. 20, 2003, in Crow Agency, a daughter of DesiRae Iron and Andrew Little Nest.

She grew up in the Crow Agency area, receiving her earlier education at Pretty Eagle Catholic Academy and Hardin Middle School, and started this school year at Pretty Eagle Catholic Academy.

Courtney Mae was a member of the Pentecostal Church, the Big Lodge Clan and a child of the Bad War Deeds.

She excelled in many classroom achievements and made the honor roll at Pretty Eagle. She enjoyed playing sports, and was very active and highly competitive. While attending Pretty Eagle, she participated in cross-country, football and basketball. Her love for the sport of basketball took her to many local and out-of-state tournaments in Idaho, North Dakota, Wyoming, Colorado and all across the State of Montana.

She received numerous awards – All Stars, MVPs, Miss Hustle, Best Defensive Player and 3 Point Shootouts. She gave her all whenever she was playing on a team, always proud to represent her team – she anxiously looked forward to future games with her team, the Crow Cowgirl basketball team.
Courtney Mae was so friendly and her outgoing personality was so contagious; she always brightened up any room with her smile and her presence.

Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 1, 2016 at the Spirit of Life Foursquare Church in Crow Agency.

Interment will follow in the Crow Agency Cemetery. Bullis Mortuary has been entrusted with the arrangements.
