Travis, 30, was killed in a crash of a Coffman-Ranger three place monoplane. He learned to fly in Aviation school in St. Louis from Charles A. Lindbergh and in Lawton from Joe Reed. Travis was demonstrating flying in Cooperton, Kiowa County, Oklahoma and crashed just north of the Baptist Church while taking two passengers. The passengers were Marion Gail Casner, 17, son of Bert and Myrtle Casner, and his cousin, Burford Casner, 22, who was visiting Cooperton, from Clearwater, Kansas. The Casners and the Jennings families were close friends for many, many years.
