David, a native of Halifax County, was the son of the late Leslie David and Lydia Daniels Dickens. He was also preceded in death by his sisters, Pat Absire and Dr. Joyce Dickens. David was retired from Dominion Power after 42 years of service. He loved to hunt, fish and was a grill master. He is survived by his two daughters; his granddaughter, and his grandson; two sisters; his brother; several nieces and nephews; special friends; and his faithful canine companions, Missy and Mattie. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, August 31, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Askew Funeral and Cremation Services with Rev. Randy Martin officiating. Burial will follow in Cedarwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, August 30 from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. at the funeral home, and other times at his daughter's home.
