He moved to Weare, New Hampshire about 1762 and kept Dustin's Tavern. He served in the French and Indian Wars. He was one of the first "Committee of Safety," and signed the "Association Test," 5 Jun 1776. He went to Ticonderoga in 1777 with Col. Stark for 2 mos. He was killed by a fall from a horse.
William was the son of Timothy Dustin and Lydia Raymond. (His great-grandparents were Thomas and Hannah (Emerson) Duston. Hannah being the famous Hannah Dustin who had escaped from her Indian captors on Dustin's Island and that has two monuments built in her honor.
William married 28 May 1761 Rhoda Pettee. They were the parents of 9 children: Sarah Pettee, Peter Oettee, Asa, Elizabeth Scribner, William Jr., Rhoda, Jane, Polly and Mary Ann Dustin.
