She was a member of Smithwood Christian Church. She was an inspirational lady who had great faith in her Lord and Savior and loved to share His good news to all.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, August 31, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at Smithwood Christian Church with Rev. Gordon Fulton and Rev. Raleigh Castelloe officiating; burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends on Tuesday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
She was the daughter of the late Fred and Mattie McKeithan Edwards and was also preceded in death by her husband, Thomas V. Layton; brothers, Johnny, Clyde and Robert Edwards; and granddaughter, Lynnette Layton.
Surviving are her sons, Dennis V. Layton (Lynda), Joe L. Layton (Bertha), and Eugene Layton (Marsha) all of Liberty; sister, Irene White of Siler City; grandchildren, Debbie Layton, Darren Layton, Joel Layton, Howard Layton, Tim Layton, Brian Layton, Tina Braddy and Philip Layton; and 13 great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Smithwood Christian Church, Cemetery Fund, 6809 Kimesville Road, Liberty, NC 27298.
