ROGER MILTON PERKINS, 70, died Sunday at Big Bear Valley Community Hospital in Big Bear.

Born in Santa Ana, Mr. Perkins lived in Riverside 37 years. He was an agricultural engineer at UC Riverside for 20 years. Mr. Perkins also worked at Tenneco West in Indio for 10 years.

At UCR and Tenneco, he worked in research and design of agricultural equipment, like a date pollinator and an orange tree shaker, according to his wife.

He earned a degree in agricultural engineering from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo and served in the U. S. Army from 1952 until 1954.

Mr. Perkins was a member of the Boy Scouts and the American Society of Agricultural Engineers.
He is survived by his wife, Joyce; two sons, Wayne of Bakersfield and Loren of Riverside; a daughter, Judy Sarver of Orange; three grandchildren.

Services will be at 10 am. Friday at Fairhaven Memorial Chapel in Santa Ana. Burial will be in Fairhaven Memorial Park. After the burial, there will be a reception at Riverside Elks Lodge.
