Wanda R. Hubbard, 72, of Cleveland, passed away peacefully at her daughter's home on Monday, Aug. 29, 2016.

She was a native of Maryville, and had also lived in Etowah for more than 30 years, as well as Seminole, Fla., before returning home to Tennessee.

She was born on Aug. 5, 1944, the daughter of the late George W. Roberts and the late M. Elizabeth Goddard. She was a dedicated wife and mother and loved her family, friends and community. She set an example of selflessness and instilled in her children the importance of commitment to family and the value of hard work. She was a woman of great strength and grace. Her desire was that her children and grandchildren follow in those same footsteps - raising families and serving their community.

She attended Maryville High School, where she played the clarinet in the Rebel Marching Band. After marrying and raising her children in Etowah, she was employed by both Proffitt's Department Store and the McMinn County Property Assessor's office. Regardless of where she lived, she frequently returned to her true home: Maryville.

She loved going to the beach, traveling, camping, golf and picnics by the river. She was a Den Mother for the Cub Scouts and was active with the Girl Scout program. She was also involved in the many youth sports her children participated in. She was happiest having a good time with family and friends.

She was truly a gift and left a tremendous legacy.

She was married to the late S. Joe Hubbard for 44 years and was also preceded in death by her brother, George R. Roberts.

Survivors include one daughter, Cheri Vaughn, and her husband, Joe, of Cleveland, and their children, Cameron Vaughn of Nashville, and Devon Vaughn of Raleigh, N.C.; one son, Chris Hubbard, and his wife, Nancy Jo, and their children, Zachary and Madelyn, both of Williamsburg, Va., Christopher Hubbard of San Diego, Calif., and Gavin Hubbard of Chattanooga; and a lifelong family friend, James Drew.

Special appreciation goes to the wonderful staffs of Guardian Home Care of Cleveland and Nephrology Associates, who provided superior care and friendship to our entire family.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 31, at Bordwine Funeral Home.

Family and friends will meet on Thursday, Sept. 1, at Grandview Cemetery in Maryville, for an 11 a.m. graveside service with the Rev. Charles Bailey officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you "pay it forward" to a church or charitable organization of your choice and consider becoming an organ donor as Wanda was a recipient of this wonderful gift.

Bordwine Funeral Home of Etowah is in charge of arrangements.
