GILBERT, STEVEN WAYNE, SR., age 56, of Sylacuaga, passed away October 5, 2008. After graduating from Hueytown High School in 1970, Steven attended the University of Alabama, then trasferred to UAB and graduated in 1975. He worked as an electrical engineer for Verizon Wireless for 24 years and also owned Gilbert Electric Company. He earned his Professional Engineers License, of which he was very proud. As a man of many interests and talents, Steven liked to renovate houses, was an assistant Scout Master with Troop 21 for 14 years, was an avidd musician, and was a Ham Radis Operator, whose call sign was WD4EKN. He was an amazing and loving Husband, Father, Son friend and teacher, and will be missed by all. He is survived by his wife, Celeste Gilbert; daughters, Shelley Tomich and Mark, Tracey Tillery, and Charity Goolsby and Peter; sons, Steven Wayne Gilbert, Jr. and Brittany, Jimmy Tillery and Sarah, and Jacob Goolsby and Jeannie; grandchildren, Brighton, Joseph, Tommy, Julie, Serenity and Sylone; father, Eli Robert Gilbert; brothers, Robert Gilbert and Phillip Gilbert; and sisters, Brenda Hillman and Linda Crowder. A Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, October 8, 2008 at 2:00 PM at Peoples Chapel Funeral Home with burial in Highland Memorial Gardens.
