Anna led a long and eventful life. She was born in Bohemia, and traveled as an infant with her parents, Joseph and Josephine Fustersehl Haba, to America. She was married at the age of 13 on 07 Oct 1887 in Piece Co., NE to a German immigrant, Mathais Laprath, age 31. He was the son of Hans Laprath and Margaret Himpkamp, and had arrived in New York in January of 1870 a few years before Anna's parents made their own journey to America ending up in Nebraska. They lived in a sod hut between Wausa and Osmond, farming the land. Anna was 15, when her first born child was born, my grandmother, Marie Elise, "Americanize" to Mary Alice. There would be 7 more siblings, 4 born in Nebraska and 3 after they family moved to then Chelalis Co., WA (now Grays Harbor County) near Elma about 1901.

In order the children were: Mary Alice, Henry William, Laura, Ella Nora, Louise Anna, Pauline, Mathais Harry and Gustav Eugene. Gustave was named for my grandfather, as Mary, the oldest married the year before, on 30 Jun 1906 in Montesano to a Norwegian immigrant, Gustave Egge. Some after the birth of Anna's last son with Mathais in 1907, Gene, and before 1910, Anna and Mathais divorced. Anna is found with her 7 unmarried children working as a laundress in Elma in 1910.

Shortly after this, Anna moved to Seattle. Her daughter, Laura, married there in 1911, Henry married in Tacoma in 1913. Anna remarried to John Clark on 10 Mar 1914, just before she turned forty. He was a grocer and they had a son Delbert later that year, her 9th and last child. Uncle Delbert was one year older than my father. They played together as children. Louise, the 5th born, married in Seattle in 1917. By 1918, her two oldest married children, Mary and Henry, were living in Greenlake on the same block on Stroud Avenue.

In 1924, Anna's husband John Clark was killed in a pedestrian car accident. Anne would move to Los Angeles with her younger children. Delbert would change is name to Laprath. I have never found Anna in the 1930 census, but three of her daughters and her son Mathias Harry were living in Los Angeles in that census. Delbert married in Los Angles in the late 1940s. Gustav Eugene died in 1949 in Los Angeles by suicide.

Anna, her sons, Gustav and Mathais, and daughters, Pauline and Ella Nora, are all buried in Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Glendale. She was 93 and had out live 6 of her nine children and both husbands.
