Marilyn Svaglic Laird, 58, of Leawood, Kan., joined our Lord and Savior, and her loving, parents Albert and Dorothy Svaglic on August 30, 2007. Marilyn is survived by her husband of 36 years, Michael T. Laird of the home; sisters, Denise M. Svaglic (Chuck), Lawrence, Kan., and Loretta Haden (Al), Williamsburg, Va.; a brother, Gregory Svaglic, Kansas City, Mo.; aunt, Anna Rose Svaglic, Kansas City, Kan.; sister-in-law, Patricia LaPosta (Tony), West Va.; nieces and nephews, Laura, Ned, Justin, Gwynne, Zane, Rico, and Michael; great niece and nephews, Caroline, Christian, and Jacob; loving friends, Jimmy, Rosemary, Doug, Sondra, and Chuckles, as well as her loving canine babies, Fluffy and Cookie, of the home; and a multitude of friends and acquaintances. Marilyn was a 1967 graduate of St. Teresa's Academy. She attended college, and was a graduate of Hays School of Cosmetology. She worked for 30 years for Krizman's Hair Fashions, Prairie Village, KS. Marilyn was a member of the KC Garden Club and a member of the Elite Seven Stars Club. Marilyn's passions were gardening, gourmet cooking, and people. Marilyn was famous for her graciousness and infectious laughter, of which she was always the "leader." She also had the gift of making people feel as if they were the most important person in the room. We will all miss her dearly, she was very well loved and she will forever be in our hearts and minds. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, Sept. 4, at Cure of Ars Catholic Church, 9401 Mission Road, Leawood. Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. and the Mass following at 10 a.m. Private inurnment is planned for a later date. The family suggests contributions be sent to Kansas City Hospice or Catholic Charities of Kansas City. Arrangements: Skradski Funeral Home, Kansas City, KS 913-371-1404
