Professional Baseball Player. Born in Birmingham, Alabama, he played six seasons in the Major Leagues, from 1937 to 1940 as a centerfielder with the Philadelphia Phillies, and from 1944 to 1945 as a leftfielder with the New York Yankees. He was an All Star in 1938.
